A man in the thirties died of his injuries after being struck by a vehicle near the entrance to an underground parking in downtown Montreal on Tuesday evening.
The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) reports that the event took place around 9:50 p.m. on rue de Boisbriand, near the avenue de l’Hotel-de-Ville, in the town of Ville-Marie.
“According to first information received, the driver of the vehicle was traveling on rue de Boisbriand and hit the individual who was possibly on the ground, near an underground parking entrance,” said agent Jeanne Drouin, who is a spokesperson for the SPVM on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters, police and paramedics intervened on the scene to help the man in the thirties, who was unconscious and seriously injured. The latter finally succumbed to his injuries to the hospital.
The identity of the victim had still not been confirmed by the police on Wednesday morning.
As for the driver of the vehicle, a 26 -year -old man, he was not physically injured. He was met by SPVM investigators, just like witnesses to the scene.
“For the moment, the event would not be of a criminal nature,” said the agent Drouin.
