The Olympic mountain bike champion won the queen stage of the women’s Tour de France between Chambéry and Saint-François Longchamp. Now in yellow, she can dream of the final victory.
A demonstration. Returning to the road after making a career – and what a career – in mountain biking, becoming Olympic champion at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, Pauline Ferrand -Prévot achieved a new feat on Saturday. On the slopes of the terrible Madeleine pass, she crushed the pedals and the competition to win the solo stage, initially taking up the escapes and then distant her rivals, the favorite of the half vollering event.
In yellow on the eve of the ultimate and last stage, the Rémoise which this year competes its first round of France at 33 years old, can succeed the list of the event at Jeannie Longo, the last French winner of the Grande Boucle in 1989. The runner of the Visma-Lease team had already impressed by winning the female edition of Paris-Roubaix. “It was a bit like a mountain bike event,” said the champion at the microphone of France 2. “There is still tomorrow and we have to finish the work. This is still a difficult step (…) winning here on this legendary collar is incredible. (…) This is the dream of a little girl. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot now has 2,37 ahead of the Australian Sarah Gigante in the general classification.
