Good spots to admire Perseids in French -speaking Switzerland
Many municipalities are offering special entertainment all the next week for the passage of the Meteors swarm.
The Perseids are a swarm of meteors made up of debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle whose size is between that of a grain of sand and that of a pea.

HAS Lausannethe lighting will be turned off in three areas of the city on the night of August 12 to 13 “to better see the shooting stars: the edge of Lake Vidy at Park Bourget, Valency Park and the Tour du Lac de Sauvabelin,” reports a press release.
In addition, “an animation will take place that evening at the Pierre de Coubertin stadium to allow the public to observe the stars by means of telescopes and to discover the relationship between public lighting, celestial heritage and biodiversity”.
In many Vaudois communes, the lighting of certain districts will be extinguished for several nights to admire the meteors: in Morges from 11 to 13, in Crissier from 10 to 13, in Ecublens from 10 to 14, in Yverdon-les-Bains from 12 to 13 or even in Renens from 9 to 12.
Neuchâtel
The Ville De Neuchâtel has announced to reduce “more strongly even than usual public lighting during this exceptional night”, that from August 12 to 13. Two free activities are also offered, namely a guided promenade on the theme of night fauna, as well as an astronomical observation workshop with the Neuchâtel company of Astronomie in the courtyard of the college of Guches in Peseux.
“In Corcelles-Cormondrèche and Valangin, the entire area already extinguished from midnight to 5 am will remain extinct overnight.” In Peseux, this extinction will take place in any locality, except the rue de Neuchâtel.
Geneva
In the city of Geneva, no particular development is planned. For those who would still like to observe the Perseids, the hills of the Bernex signal are a good option.
Fribourg
The enthusiasts of shooting stars will be able to go several evenings in a row to Villars-sur-Glâne, where public lighting will be extinguished on the nights from Monday 11 to Thursday August 14. In addition, “a special evening is organized on August 14 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Cabane du Platy”, announces the town on its site internet. On the program: “animations, make -up for children and presentations of the solar system by professionals”.

On August 11 and 12, the Bella-Tola hut will welcome the animators of the FXB observatory to observe the shooting stars. A funicular rise is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., followed by a thirty -minute walk to the cabin. After the meal, an observation commented by the animators will take place, with a telescope and the naked eye. The evenings are unfortunately already complete.
Jura
Go to the Jura astronomical observatory at Vicques Wednesday August 13. The entry is free, no registration is necessary. The event will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight. There Haute-Borne Can also offer ideal conditions to observe the Perseids.
