Possible sale of the Chrome browser by Google: Perplexity makes an offer of several billion dollars

The American start-up specializing in Perplexity AI made an offer of $ 34.5 billion (around 29.7 billion euros) to buy the Google Chrome browser. This unsolicited offer comes shortly after the interest manifested by its competitor OPENAI for Chrome, which remains one of the main Internet access portals in the world.

According to a spokesperson for Perplexity, the offer was sent Tuesday to Google, which is part of the alphabet conglomerate.

Last year, an American federal judge said Google had a monopoly on the search engines market. The company must therefore separate from Chrome.

Perplexity is a start-up, which raises questions about this offer of several billion. The company indicates, however, to benefit from the support of “several administrators“.

The offer is in any case greater than the market value of the start-up itself, estimated at $ 18 billion in July, writes the American economic news channel CNBC.

Google has not yet reacted to this information.
