The prosecution announced on Wednesday at the Montreal courthouse no longer had any evidence to offer in the Téresita Fuentes file. Judge Marie Kettlyne Ruben thus acquitted her from the chief of pimping that weighed against her.
The 68 -year -old was arrested a week after billionaire Robert Miller last summer.
The founder of Future Electronics had been accused of 24 chiefs out of 11 victims, most of whom were minor, between 1994 and 2016.
Teresita Fuentes, who would have been a close collaborator of Miller according to several sources of Journalhad been accused of a crime on a single victim, between 2015 and 2018.
Another employee of the billionaire, Raymond Poulet, was arrested last month for sexual crimes that would have been committed to three people, including one under the age of 14.
Stopping procedures
Recall that Judge Lyne Décarie had ordered procedures to stop all Robert Miller’s files last June, due to her Parkinson disease at an advanced stage.
The 81 -year -old billionaire would not be able to adequately attend his trial in person and his life could even be jeopardized during transport at the courthouse, said his lawyer, Me Isabella Teolis.
Robert Miller is currently at the final stage of Parkinson’s disease and suffers from heart and respiratory problems. It has been constantly alienated since 2022 and must frequently receive medication.
This decision was not equated to a conviction or a acquittal.
“If the holding of a trial had been possible, we remain convinced that testimonies and proof definitively supported a reasonable perspective of condemnation,” said the chief prosecutor of the Montreal office, Me Dominique Potvin.
The billionaire is also the subject of a collective action which could cost him more than $ 250M. This is still active despite the end of the procedures for its criminal files.
