Reminder of more than 22,000 F-150 trucks in Canada for a rear axle defect

Ford Motor Co. recalls more than 22,000 F-150 trucks in Canada due to a security problem related to rear axle bolts.

The defect affects precisely 22,663 vehicles from the 2023, 2024 and 2025 models, equipped with the “Robust towing set” (Trailer Tow Max Duty).

According to a notice published by Transports Canada, bolts of the rear axle hub could break, which would cause wear of the axle shaft.

This mechanical problem could cause loss of power to the wheels, thus increasing the risk of accident. If the vehicle is parked without parking brake, it could even start driving unexpectedly.

A parked vehicle that could create risks of injury or accident.

This recall, identified under number 25S82, is added to a previous reminder (the 23S65) which already aimed at certain models for the same type of defect. It is part of a larger operation which concerns around 103,000 F-150 trucks in the United States.

Ford must send opinions by mail to the owners of the vehicles concerned. They will be invited to go to a dealership for a free repair.

Recall that this is not the first time this year that Ford has proceeded to a wide recall: last May, the company recalled more than 11,000 F-150 Lightning electric trucks in Canada because of a problem with steering wheel.

If you think your vehicle is targeted by this recall, see the Transport Canada website or contact your Ford dealer directly.
