The action started at 6 a.m. on Monday. Accompanied by the Unia union, the licensed workers in the wood sector began to distribute leaflets to their colleagues from the metal sector to break the silence and denounce the closure of one of the sites of the Samvaz company, in Châtel-St-Denis, as well as the massive layoffs which result from it.
At the heart of this approach: a call for solidarity. Because according to a UNIA press release, “management has continued to blur the cards by delivering a truncated version of the situation to metal employees”. An oriented communication which would have sown confusion and created internal divisions between the two sectors, according to the document.
“Management instrumentalizes disinformation to oppose workers between them,” says Unia Friborg.
Faced with this climate of mistrust and uncertainty, the strikers want to open the eyes of their metal colleagues. “We must not stay spectators. What happens today in wood can touch the metal tomorrow, ”warns Unia.
During the day, megaphone speeches are also planned in front of the metal factory, in order to bring the voice of licensees and recall the importance of a collective response to what they call “social injustice”.
For strikers, the unit is the only effective weapon to counter any management of management. They insist: “Solidarity is the key to protecting all workers and their rights. »»
Last Friday, around fifteen employees went on strike, demanding a better social plan. The continuation of the strike will be decided on Monday.
