Sherbrooke: he beat up two police officers and tries to disarm them

A furious madman beat two police officers and tried to disarm them during an arrest that almost turned into the drama on Friday night in Sherbrooke, Estrie.

Around 4:15 am, the two patrollers proceeded to verify a suspect individual, who was at that time on the 18th Avenue Nord.

During the intervention, the 33 -year -old suspect tried to “hide himself in a taxi vehicle” and would not have offered any collaboration with the police, the authorities reported.

After various approaches, the agents found that the man contravened conditions issued by the court forcing him to remain in his home between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

It was when the police tried to arrest that the situation completely degenerated.

“Violent resistance”

“The suspect has opposed violent resistance. He struck the police and tried to seize their service weapon. The intervention required the assistance of several patrol vehicles in order to master the individual, who continued to physically attack the police on the spot, “said Benoit Pellerin, spokesperson for the Sherbrooke police.

The two beaten police officers have undergone several injuries which, fortunately, do not put their lives in danger.

The suspect is well known to police circles. Accusations of serious assault, attempted to disarm a peace agent, hindrance to the work of the police and breakdown of conditions should be carried against him.
