Spotify further increases the price of the premium subscription, so it never stops

Spotify will increase its prices in many countries. In a few weeks, subscribers will receive an email with the new amount of their invoicing.

And another one! Spotify announces that a new price increase will be applied for customers of the Premium subscription. “In order to continue to innovate in our offers and features and to offer the best possible user experience, we regularly update our prices”declares the platform. But the details of the new pricing policy are still blurred.

“Over the next month, premium subscribers of several markets in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region will receive an e-mail explaining the consequences of this update on their subscriptions”explains the service. We therefore do not know with certainty if France is concerned by this price increase. And if this is the case, we also do not have the information on the new price in force for the Spotify Premium subscription.

Spotify increases its prices worldwide

The company evokes communication on this subject next month, September. Normally, in France, a price increase can only be applied with at least one month of notice. Which would lead us to implement new prices in October. But we can still hope to pass between the drops.

Last June, Spotify already increased the price of its premium subscriptions in France, the new prices having entered into force in July. We then saw an increase of approximately one euro for personal plans, of two euros for the duo formula and three euros for the family package:

  • Personnel : € 12.14/month Instead of € 11.12/month
  • Students: € 7.07/month Instead of € 6.06/month
  • Duo : € 17.20/month instead of € 15.17/month
  • Family : € 21.24/month Instead of € 18.21/month

Will Spotify dare to increase its prices in France twice in the space of less than six months? We can doubt it, but in the current context, nothing would surprise us. For the moment, Spotify does not have new feature that would justify the price increase. Rumors around the integration of loss -free audio in Spotify were relaunched a few weeks ago.
