The bones found in the River des Mille Îles are those of Robert Saint-Louis

The bones found on July 20 in an immersed vehicle at the bottom of the Rivière des Mille îles, in Deux-Montagnes, indeed belong to Robert Saint-Louis, disappeared in 1988. The Coroner office confirmed the new on Monday.

This revelation therefore puts an end to the investigation of the Laval Police Service (SPL) which has been looking for Mr. Saint-Louis for 37 years.

In addition to the vehicle of Robert Saint-Louis, a van was drafted from the waters last Monday.

The Jeep identified as that of Mr. Saint-Louis was removed from the water by the divers of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Investigators and technicians in the crime of the Laval police were then to examine the vehicle to confirm that it was that of the missing man, which was done quickly.

The coroner was subsequently analyzed the bones in order to confirm if they were human bones and, above all, if they were those of M. Saint-Louis.

Last Monday, the police forces confirmed that one of the vehicles identified in the river was that of the Lavallois Robert Saint-Louis, who has been missing since 1988.

Members of Mr. Saint-Louis’ family were kept informed of each approach carried out by the investigators.

The file was carried out jointly by the police force of the Lac des Deux-Montagnes, by the SPL and by the SQ.

The spokesman for the police force of Lac des Deux-Montagnes, Jean-Philippe Labbé, assesses that the waters of the river, at the place where the vehicles were spotted, are about 18 meters depth.

Earlier this month, another longtime disappearance has been resolved in Mauricie. Yvon Guévin’s car was extracted from the Saint-François river in Pierreville. Divers had found the vehicle of the man who has been missing since 2014.
