Meta is about to unveil a new generation of connected glasses, much more advanced than its previous model. But it is above all their price that risks creating surprise.
Connected accessories evolve quickly and seek to get essential. From intelligent watches to virtual reality headsets, each product tries to replace daily use. Among them, smart glasses occupy a special place because they combine fashion and technology. They arouse growing interest, but also strong expectations on their features. It is in this context that Meta develops new models capable of going further than the previous ones.
After the success of the Meta Ray-Ban glasses, limited to the photo, the video and the audio, the company prepares a version with integrated screen. According to information relayed by Mark Gurman, they could be presented at the next Meta Connect event. Their price has long been estimated around $ 1,400, but it would ultimately be much lower, around $ 800, or almost 740 euros.

With this price, Meta adopts the same strategy as for his Quest helmets. The Quest 3 is offered from 499 dollars (around 460 euros), a fraction of the price of competing devices. This policy is to reduce the margin in order to reach a wider audience and impose its products on a growing market. In comparison, the Apple Vision Pro costs 3,499 dollars (almost 3,240 euros), which limits its diffusion to a limited circle. On the contrary, the company hopes to seduce as many users as possible and accelerate the adoption of its glasses.
These new glasses will not yet offer a real augmented reality. They will integrate a small screen capable of displaying simple applications and notifications. They represent an intermediate step before more advanced models, such as the Orion project that Meta has already shown. Mark Zuckerberg is betting on a future where glasses will be able to replace the smartphone, but this vision will take time to come true. In the meantime, an attractive price and useful functions could be enough to convince the general public to take the plunge as soon as they released next month.
