“Following the rains of mid-July, the sectors of Yvel and Ninian, Oust and Aff, hitherto respectively in crisis and vigilance reinforced dryness (level 3 and 4) go back to the dryness alert level. Thus, the entire Morbihan is now on drought alert (level 2 of 4), ”informs the prefect of the department in a press release this Saturday.
The Morbihan has displayed a water deficit of approximately 35 % since the start of the year
2025. The soil humidity index remains below normal. The underground tablecloths are low and the flow rates remain under the alert thresholds.
Given this situation and future weather forecasts, the prefect decided to maintain Morbihan on a drought alert.
Filling swimming pools, watering and restricted cleaning
The inhabitants and tourists are asked to adopt, on this territory, economical gestures in water consumption in particular, on the islands, the coastal fringe, the upstream sector from Lake to Duke.
Concretely, hourly restrictions are in force for agricultural irrigation according to the type of crops (does not apply to deductions from irrigation disconnected from the hydrographic network), a reduction in water consumption for professional use is requested. It is also forbidden to water vegetable gardens, sports fields, golf courses and green spaces, except young plants, between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. It is forbidden to fill pools, clean the roads, boats and facades.
