This trip precedes Prime Minister Mark Carney’s planned visit to Mexico to meet Mme Sheinbaum.
Last Friday, the United States imposed customs duties of 35 % on products that are not covered by the trade agreement between Canada, the United States and Mexico (ACEUM).
Mexico, for its part, has obtained a 90-day stay before the entry into force of customs duties that the United States threatens to impose.
ACEUM must be subject to a compulsory revision next year.
Ontario Prime Minister Doug Ford called for the conclusion of a bilateral trade agreement between Canada and the United States last year, saying Mexico served as a Trojan horse for the entrance to automotive parts and Chinese vehicles on the North American market.
Mme Anand and Mr. Champagne will also meet Canadian and Mexican business leaders during this two -day trip.
