Sony and the National Football League (NFL) have announced the launch of their brand new NFL coach helmets, developed to meet the specific requirements of the league coaches. Based on the teachings and engineering principles from the famous 1000X series of Sony, these helmets illustrate the extreme engagement of the Japanese group in audio innovation and advanced engineering standards, while embodying the strength of technological and engineering partnership between Sony and NFL. The recognized expertise of Sony in noise reduction played a decisive role in the design of this personalized solution integrated into the new helmets.
Although specifically adapted and adjusted for the sidelines, the helmet benefits from the same know-how in terms of noise reduction which has attracted millions of consumers worldwide with the 1000x range. During the development phase, each unit was tested with real crowd noises exceeding 100 decibels in order to optimize the noise reduction algorithm for maximum precision in stadium. The helmets also incorporate a tailor -made smartphone to isolate and enhance the voice of the coach, guaranteeing clear and constant communication on the ground.
To meet the physical requirements specific to the touch lines, Sony designed its helmets so that they resist extreme weather conditions: rain, hail, snow, hot and intense cold. Helmets have also undergone rigorous fall tests to adapt to the reality on the ground, while offering an ergonomic design designed for prolonged port and rapid transitions, with secure support during the most intense movements. The set of 32 NFL teams will be equipped with these helmets from the 2025 season, thus improving communication on the key lines and making it possible to refine the strategy in real time with increased clarity and confidence.
Helmets will be connected to the Managed Private Wireless solution from Verizon Business via a belt box. As an official NFL helmet, this launch marks a new step in continuous collaboration between Sony and the League, by associating technical expertise and field experience to provide technological innovation to the game.
