The Pasteur Institute and the University of Nagasaki United for Research and Prevention of Diseases
The Institut Pasteur de Ho Chi Minh Ville and the University of Nagasaki in Japan signed on Friday 1is August a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening their cooperation in key areas such as strengthening epidemiological surveillance capacities, the development of vaccines and the response to existing and emerging diseases.

Professor Associate-Docitor Nguyên Vu Trung, director of the Institut Pasteur, said that under this memorandum of understanding, the two parties undertake to promote diversified and concrete collaboration activities.
These activities include conferences and joint workshops, exchanges of academics, researchers and students, the sharing of academic equipment and the development of specific programs and projects in terms of scientific research, training and prevention of epidemics.
During the signature ceremony, Nguyên Ngô Quang, director of the administration of science, technology and training of the Ministry of Health, suggested that the Institut Pasteur quickly develops an action plan for the first year, focused on measures that are easy to implement, such as short -term exchanges, bilateral workshops and links with joint research groups.
In addition, the Institute should actively seek and mobilize resources from international research support programs and bilateral or multilateral financing organizations in order to ensure the financial sustainability of the
Masuo Ono, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh Ville, stressed the importance of preventive medicine to prevent epidemics and the transmission of infectious diseases.
The diplomat highlighted his role in protecting lives, public health and the stability and prosperity of society. He expressed the hope that the agreement would strengthen efforts to combat infectious diseases in Vietnam and in the world.
The Institut Pasteur de Ho Chi Minh Ville and the University of Nagasaki, two advanced establishments in tropical medicine and infectious diseases in their respective countries, has been cooperating in particular in terms of research and training since 2004.
