Sensitize young and old on good gestures for summer and environmental risk prevention and screening

On Thursday, August 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Place des Récollets in Moissac welcomed the prevention tour “good summer, good health reflex”, organized by the Regional Health Agency Occitanie (ARS). This itinerant operation, which travels the region until August 22, aims to educate inhabitants and tourists about good health reflexes to adopt during the summer period.

Playful and educational workshops are supervised by Sébastien, Alice, Sullivan and a local nurse. Visitors were able to participate in several animations around various themes:

The dangers of sugar: weight gain, cavities, dependence and, in the long term, risk of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers.

The dangers of the sun: protection against eye problems (such as cataract) and skin (melanoma). The animators presented the ABCDE method of self-control of beauty grains: asymmetry, edges, color, diameter, evolution.

The importance of moving: practice at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity, even through simple gestures like cleaning.

Sports entertainment and screening were offered with a challenge wheel allowing to test agility, balance and endurance with squats, juggles and other exercises. Participants could also make an appointment via a QR code for a free health assessment: measurement of blood sugar, cholesterol, tension, size, weight and stress assessment, followed by personalized advice to reduce cardiovascular risks.

The teams also made the public aware of the risks linked to the environment, such as bites (ticks, mosquitoes), the dangers of swimming (possible presence of cyanobacteria, dangerous especially for animals), and to marine or terrestrial species to avoid: physalie (or Portuguese galley) and certain species of snakes such as viper (split pupils) (Round pupils, thicker and long body).

Useful gifts and a friendly atmosphere, where caps, hats, comics and leaflets on public health were distributed free to visitors.

The day before, in Molières, the stage had already attracted nearly 45 people, especially families with young children.

Next steps: The tour continues in the Tarn and the Lot, on August 19 at the Garric leisure center (Tarn) and August 20 at the Ambialet market (Tarn). An opportunity not to be missed to discover, in a fun and interactive way, how to take care of your health all summer.
