Thirty cats and dogs abandoned in an unsanitary residence

An animal protection organization in British Columbia has recovered some 33 cats and dogs, including puppies, abandoned in an unhealthy Nanaimo residence, on the island of Vancouver.

The owner of the residence would not have been able to meet the basic needs of animals, the number of which exploded due to “uncontrolled reproduction”, Global News reported on Tuesday.

“All animals, including puppies and kittens, were infested with chips,” said Eileen Drever, principal responsible for protection and relations with the stakeholders of the British Columbia SPCA.

The felines and the canids, including two females Pitbull Terrier with 16 puppies, were taken care of in SPCA centers, while treatments against fleas and parasites were provided, according to the global network.

“Food and water were insufficient for animals, and it was obvious that they had not received veterinary care. Their basic needs were not met, ”deplored Mme Drever, saying that puppies will be ready to be adopted in about five months.
