The case of the trafficked bulletins during the municipal elections of this spring, in Vernier, will now occupy the highest judicial body in the country. In an appeal lodged last week with the Federal Court, an anonymous citizen requests the cancellation of elections to the administrative (executive) and municipal (deliberative) councils, the RTS revealed.
Geneva justice has already canceled the March 23 ballot for the deliberative, tainted with fraud (at least 9 people filled 278 bulletins). Verniolans will revoke on November 30. On the other hand, it did not notice any irregularities in the election to the administrative council, and validated it.
Supported by the MCG and its unhappy candidate for the town hall, Thierry Cerutti, the appellant argues that the bulletins for the deliberative and for the executive appeared, in the first round, in the same envelope: they could thus have been modified or subtized.
While the three elected representatives of the Administrative Council have come into office, the Chancellery of the canton notes that the appeal of this citizen has, a priori, no suspensive effect. However, in some cases, provisional measures could be taken.
