Xal’Atath leads the dance
This evening took place the Night Live Opening, the Gamescom opening ceremony. Always animated by this good old Geoff Keighley, this conference allows you to highlight certain big games present (or not) at the German show. Blizzard is one of the guests of honor since in addition to offering many entertainment on site during the show as well as a playable demo, the publisher was keen to reveal his very first cutscene for World of Warcraft : Midnight.
Second part of the saga of the soul monde started with The War Within, Midnight will confront us with a vacuum, which gains in power and which imposes the fight on the surface. This first video immerses us in the intrigue looming and allows us to see the main lines of this new chapter. And as always with Blizzard, we feast on this kinematics, which proves to us once again that the publisher knows how to do it in this area.
We see a fierce battle between the troops of blood elves and the forces of the void, led by Soloa character that players are starting to know well. First introduced as the name of a dagger during the black Empire period, it was developed in the campaign of The War Within, gradually developing its influence on history. Here, we can clearly see it as the main antagonist of the kinematics, well surrounded by the forces of the void, in a confrontation which takes place at the Sun well.
Unfortunately, the kinematics ends with a “2026”, without further details of the outing period. Shortly after the diagram is broadcast, pre -orders were launched on the official website.
Midnight’s news
A few moments later, the official channel published another video, this time a trailer for gameplay. This makes it possible to see the large expected new products, with a few images at stake. If some corners or mechanicals were already known (or scrutinized by fans), certain features are confirmed for the first time.
New areas
For the ancients who knew The Burning Crusadenostalgia will probably not be too far since the island of Which danas will be the scene of changes. The city of Moon-d’Argent will be fully rebuilt to serve as a base throughout the extension, with new places such as the Sanctum of Light and the Gardens of Souvenir. Historically attached to the blood elves, we are told that the city is still at the horde, with areas only reserved for this faction.
Zul’aman, Vacuum storm et Harandar are presented as the new areas of this extension, while the wood of eternal songs will be entitled to their share of modifications. We are told about new threats, among which the forces of the void, the Luméclat (a magic lacis) are included, the return of the Amani trolls, and the cultists of the void. Three chasms (Place Parhélion, university calamity and the shady enclave) and three dungeons (racing arrow, terrace of the magists and allée du murder) will act as group activities.
Here are the details for the first three zones:
- Zul’aman : An area that reveals the ancestral lands of the tribes of the forest, old and mountain forests full of wild animals, where we can discover the temples of the Loas as well as the new chiefs, Zul’jarra and Zul’jan, grandchildren of Zul’jin
- Chasms: Place Parhélion, University calamity et The enclave shaded
- Dungeons: Enter from nalorakk et Master of Maisara
- Harandar : This primitive fungal jungle which extends around the roots of the world trees is the land of Haranirnew allied breed
- Abyss: Echo
- Dungeon: Blinding valve
- Vacuum storm : Presented as a distant and chaotic world imbued with empty energy where creatures fight to devour not only the heroes of Azeroth, but also between them.
- Chasms: Garden shadow stop, Sun Killing Sanctum et Eminence of torment
- Dungeons: Arena of the scar et Point-nexus Xenas
The new breed, Haranir
Appeared in the extension The War Within, the new allied breed is called the Haranir. These are former hunters with biolumine characteristics, who live in houses made of roots and mushrooms. Here are the classes available with this breed:
- Warrior
- Hunter
- Thief
- Priest
- Call
- Mage
- Demonist
- Monk
- Druid
A new system, hunts (and housing)
Midnight will introduce a new hunting mechanics, hunts them. This feature will allow you to hunt power targets in areas a priori conducive to ambushes. Three difficulties (normal, diffile, nightmare) will be available and this will allow you to receive various awards, such as mounting objects, titles and other furniture for your home.
The opportunity to recall that the Housing will be one of the great new features of the extension. This will allow you to have your own home, personalize it and have a good time. We can also put our hands on it during Gamescom.
And other novelties
We obviously invite you to scrutinize the official website to find out any novelty of the extension. But Blizzard has already mentioned other additions, such as a new specialization for hunters and fighters of demons (devouring, a medium distance DPS spec), some new features for the JCJ part with the murderous hill and the chain terrains and some modifications of the user interface and gaming comfort.
As a reminder, World of Warcraft Midnight is the second extension of the triptych of the soul monde saga and will be deployed in 2026, without more precise date. As always, the pre-Patch will be deployed a few weeks earlier and will allow us to approach some of these new features.
