Taking the form of teleconsultation cabins, these devices “Explain patients to serious risks” :
- Faux diagnostics
- Feeling of false safety
- Unnecessary anxiety
- Consumerism
- Different images interpretation
- Recommendations for urgent consultations, without support in the care pathway
Technology can be a great ally, provided that it remains at the service of care and is part of an ethical, rigorous and human framework. It is also necessary to recall the importance of the complete clinical dermatological examination.
This is how the SFD requests the government a supervision “Ethics and rigorous” Artificial intelligence. For secure use, experts evoke seven concrete recommendations:
- Integrate each digital tool into a local care network involving dermatologists
- Supervise the AI and tele-expertise platforms by clear and uniform rules
- Train non -specialist professionals for reasoned use of these technologies
- Strengthen the presence of dermatologists to cover the whole territory
- Clarify dermatological routes to better orient patients
- Evaluate all digital devices via independent instances
- Adapt the ethical rules to the AI and digital age
The ball is now in the camp of the public authorities. Pending more reliable and better supervised IA solutions, nothing replaces regular monitoring at a dermatologist.
