An 11-year-old girl drowned this Sunday, August 17, in a leisure center in Seine-et-Marne. It is the third death of an autistic child in similar circumstances in one week, after two dramas that occurred in Val-de-Marne and Allier.
Nautical activity turns into drama. This Sunday, August 17, an 11-year-old girl, suffering from autistic spectrum disorders, died drowned at the Grande-Parois leisure center, in Seine-et-Marne. The child participated in an outing organized by a center of Arpajon, in Essonne. According to a police source, it has escaped the surveillance of its supervisors. His body was found immersed by a lifeguard, who could not revive it.
Two days earlier, Friday, in Allier, a seven -year -old boy had drowned during a release in a plain of Moulins games. He too had an autistic disorder
The group, resulting from a holiday center in the city of Bobigny, was supervised by eight animators, “a reinforced rate due to the presence of two children with disabilities”, underlined a statement issued by the town hall of Bobigny.
A precedent in Val-de-Marne
Last Monday, a similar drama occurred at the Sports Interdepartmental Park in Choisy Paris Val-de-Marne. An 11 -year -old autistic boy, out of exit with a leisure center, had escaped the vigilance of his educator. Found in cardio-respiratory arrest almost an hour later, he could not be resuscitated.
These three deaths arise in a context of a strong increase in drowning in France. Between June 1 and July 23, 193 people lost their lives by drowning, an increase of 45 % in one year, according to Public Health France. Among them, 27 children and adolescents, against 15 to the same period in 2024.
