While Canada undertakes to devote 5 % of its GDP to military spending by 2035, an Alberta company, FH Munition Inc., says it is able to increase its production to offer a supply of ammunition from Canada.

Taran Gray hopes that the company’s underused production capacity may be used to contribute to Canadian sovereignty.
The company, strategically located in Calgary, has premises with a total area of 3,200 m2.

Expansion capacity
The company claims to be able to increase its production capacity by 800 % without major effort.
Currently, FH Munition has two production lines: a dedicated to 9 mm ammunition, producing approximately 8 million cartridges per year per quarter work, and another for 5.56 mm ammunition, producing around 6.5 million cartridges per year, per quarter of work.
Officials claim that the factory has room for four additional production lines, and can also go from one to three -quarters of work. The building could also be enlarged by 380 m2.
In addition, FH MUNITION says it can easily introduce new calibers, with adjustments that take less than a week.
During a visit to the company’s premises, the Federal MP Tomasz KMIEC stressed the importance of supporting Canadian manufacturers.

Originally, the company mainly supplied the community of sports shooters.
It quickly diversified its customers and now provides millions of cartridges to the police, from one end of the country to the other.
We are very lucky to be able to supply the police from the whole country, as well as the precision sports shooters.
Despite its contracts with the police, the company has not yet managed to unravel the military market. We have tried to approach the Canadian Armed Forces and even General Dynamics, the Canadian supplier for the army, but we cannot draw their attention

Federal deputy Tomasz KMIEC, after his visit to the factory, said that he would do what will be necessary to help FH Munition to overcome these obstacles, including by contacting the Minister of National Defense or the Minister of Public Security.
