A sock carried on July 27, 1997 by Michael Jackson during a concert in Nice was sold 6,200 euros during an auction organized on Wednesday by the Nîmes sales hotel.
(Keystone-ATS) The “iconic” object, fairly touched, had been found at the end of the concert “alongside the artist’s lodges, by a technician who intervened on the site”, told AFP Aurore Illy, auctioneer for the auction house.
“We are really on an exceptional object, even an object of worship for fans of Michael Jackson and we have received many brands of interest,” she said.
Embroidered with scintillating square crystals, the sock had been placed in a setting, accompanied by the “vintage backstage pass” of the technician, specified the website of Interean auctions.
Assorted to the iconic glove carried by the Pop icon during its tour “History World Tour”, the accessory would have been worn “on the songs ‘Beat It Live’ and ‘Billie Jean’ where Michael excels on the ‘Moonwalk'”, according to the same site.
Put on sale for the first time in June, the object had not found takers. With a starting price of 2500 euros, it was estimated between 3000 and 4000 euros.
