A 48 -year -old individual was accused of attempted murder after discharging a blank weapon towards two peace agents in Lévis on Saturday.
The authorities were first called upon to intervene around 5:50 p.m. for a man in crisis who threatened four people in particular with a weapon similar to a machine gun on rue Déziel.
“Police moved and, upon their arrival, the individual fired in their direction,” explains Véronique Blouin, spokesperson for the city’s police service (SPVL).
An operation was then triggered, with a large security perimeter. The man, Maxime Maranda, 48, was arrested and transported to the hospital to receive appropriate care about an hour later.
As for the police, the latter were not injured in this case.
A dozen accusations
According to the ten counts filed, the accused Maxime Maranda notably tried to cause the death of two victims by unloading a semi-automatic lead rifle in their direction. These are the two police officers involved in this story.
Maranda is also accused of possession of a weapon with a view to committing an offense and obstacle, and of assault towards peace agents.
Finally, he would also have uttered death threats to another person.
The man appeared on Monday afternoon in Quebec on Monday afternoon. His criminal sheet has been showing many files since 2003. He has already served a few months in prison for assault.
