Beginning of the second week of this Tour de France this Wednesday July 16 with an overly complicated final for sprinters.
And immediately
16:45 – Let’s go for the Côte de Vieille -Toulouse
After small unlisted bumps, the five head men are now starting the Côte de Vieille-Toulouse, the penultimate difficulty of this 11th stage (1.3km at 6.8%).
16:43 – Always 20 seconds apart
It looks a little at the group of pursuers, while the men present at the front give everything to keep their lead. The gap remains 20 seconds between these two groups.
16:39 – The peloton 3 minutes
It’s now clear, everything will be played forward for the stage victory. The peloton is now pointed at three minutes.
16:35 – The pursuers still at 20 seconds
The five pursuers still cannot make the junction with the leading men, who feel that they have no interest in letting come back big names like Wout Van Aert, Mathieu Van der Poel or Quinn Simmons.
16:32 – The yellow jersey team in control
The teammates of the Ben Healy yellow jersey definitively took control of the peloton and the mass seems to be said at this level. Victory should be among the 10 men in front!
16:28 – The group of pursuers approaches
The pursuing group, led by Mathieu Van der Poel and Wout Van Aert, is returning to the head of the race. But there are still 20 seconds to fill …
16:24 – A gruppetto formed
Several runners have decided to form a gruppetto behind the peloton, including the green jersey Jonathan Milan but also the Lenny Martinez pea jersey, who will not go for the few points still not attributed today.
16:20 – 30 seconds late for the Van der Poel group
The group of pursuers composed of Mathieu Van der Poel, Quinn Simmons, Wout Van Aert, Arnaud de Lie and Axel Laurence has not yet been able to affect the five head men. The gap is still about 30 seconds.
16:15 – Wright first to cross the Corronsac coast
Fred Wright continues to protect the polka dot jersey of Lenny Martinez and leads Côte de Corronsac (900m to 6.7%).
4:10 pm – The Alpecin -Deceuninck team at the head of the peloton
The teammates of Mathieu Van der Poel try to control the peloton by coming to place themselves at the front, to avoid any attempted yet another in this 11th stage. The Van der Poel group is about twenty seconds from the head of the race.
16:06 – Wright tickles at the top at the top of the Côte de Montgiscard
After a short climb, Fred Wright turns to the top at the top of the Montgiscard coast, second difficulty listed of the day. He pockets the only point given to the top.
16:02 – Place at the Côte de Montgiscard
Make way for the second difficulty of the day, the Montgiscard coast (1.7km at 5.3%). It could allow the pursuers to redo a little more delay …
16:02 – The 5 escapes waste time
Pursued by a quality group, the five leading men are gradually wasteing time. They are only 30 seconds in advance.
15:58 – Back to a moment of madness in this 11th stage
A few minutes ago, everyone panicked in the peloton and all the favorites had to join a group at the front of the peloton. Back in video on this somewhat surreal moment.
There is always something on the Tour: Vingegaard accelerates, followed by the Healy yellow jersey and Pogacar!

The course
For this new edition, still eagerly awaited, the North is honored with a big departure in Lille on Saturday July 5 for a stage organized 100% around the metropolis. The peloton will stay in the North for a few days with a second stage which will arrive in Boulogne sur Mer then in Dunkirk on Monday, July 7. Who says North, says the cobblestones? Well no, the organizers decided to do without sectors.
Nine years after its passage, Normandy is also honored with two stages including one against the watch in the streets of Caen. The city of Vire will host the arrival of the 6th stage. The Tour will then pass to Brittany with a new passage to the famous Mûr-de-Bretagne. The Massif Central will then be on the program before a first break on July 15. The second part of the Tour promises to be Dantesque with an arrival in Hautacam, a Loudenvielle-Peyragudes time trial which risks doing damage before an XXL stage, concluded in Luchon-Superbagnères via the Tourmalet, the Col d’Aspin and the Col de Peyresourde …
The third week will honor the Alps with the comeback of Mont Ventoux on July 22. The Tour de France had not been on the legendary summit since 2016, when, remember, Christopher Froome had finished the ascent on foot. The next day, the peloton goes up the Rhône valley in an accidental stage between Bollène and Valence before attacking a very mountainous final line, first with an 18th stage between the agglomeration of Grenoble and the Courchevel station with the appalling Col de la Loze and its three outdoor passes which will be the queen of the Tour with more than 5000 meters of ascension. Finally, no Olympic Games this year, the Tour will find its last traditional step with an arrival on avenue des Champs Elysées.
