Wednesday, July 23, on the occasion of the 17ᵉ stage of the Tour de France 2025, between Bollène and Valence, around fifty young Drômois participated in an exceptional day as part of the operation “Les Forgies du Sport”. This initiative of Secours Populaire makes it possible to offer children who do not have the opportunity to go on vacation a day of escape around sport and this great cycling festival.
A day of bicycle in all its forms: children, aged 7 to 12, first gathered in a school of the Valentinian agglomeration, where a mobile BMX track had been installed. Helmet on the head, boys and girls were able to learn this discipline, but also participate in several workshops: initiation to bicycle repair, outdoor games and drawings on the theme of the Tour.
The highlight of the day took place there ten km from the finish line of the day stage: along the road, the children were able to attend the passage of the advertising caravan of the Tour de France, long awaited, before seeing the runners scrolling in the direction of Valencia. “”It’s a unique moment “, says one of these lucky. This Drômoise stage is part of a national system which provides for the participation of 1,000 children on 14 stages of the Tour de France and 4 of the Tour de France women. The operation The Forgotten of Sportinitiated in 2008, promotes access to sport and leisure activities of children from modest backgrounds, by offering them a day of celebration in the heart of one of the most popular sporting events in the country.

The Secours Populaire, long -committed for the right to the holidays for all, recalls that 1 in 3 children still does not go on vacation in France. In 2024, 208,000 people were helped to leave thanks to the association’s action. To complete this mission, the traditional day of the forgotten holidays, scheduled after August 15, will also offer thousands of young people an outing to the sea, in a park or a tourist site.

The Tour de France 2025 will take place from July 5 to 27, with a big departure from Lille and a traditional arrival on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
