Marine Rosset, elected in June to the presidency of the Scouts and Guides of France (SGDF), resigned less than two months after his arrival, denouncing attacks linked to her homosexuality.
“The situation had become untenable and my will is to protect the movement”she confides to The cross. “It is also to protect my family that I resigned.”
Mother of a child, a socialist municipal councilor in Paris, known for her pro-IVG positions, Marine Rosset, 39, had been largely elected at the head of the main scouting movement, resulting from Catholicism.
But his election has aroused criticism of far -right sites and some skeptical reactions within the Church.
“After my election, people outside scouting instrumentalized my positions, which gave a false image of the movement”she deplores.

“We sometimes questioned my faith”
She also explains that the sudden announcement of a partial legislative election in her constituency weighed in her decision: “The least of my speaking would have been watched. I especially did not want to damage the movement.”
Victim of recurring insults on social networks, she filed a complaint in Paris in early July. “We used my political commitment to criticize me without mentioning my homosexuality”she underlines, saying herself “Angry, in particular because we sometimes questioned my faith because of my homosexuality. It is injuring.”
The Scouts and Guides of France condemned in a press release “Firmly violent, discriminating or dehumanizing remarks” and supported their ex-president, recalling that such violence is “Deeply contrary to [leur] Educational and associative ethics “.
The movement, which has more than 100,000 members, claims to want to preserve its Apartisan character.
Emmanuel Grégoire, PS deputy, also expressed his support before “Hatred and grime homophobia”.
Marine Rosset indicates that she will continue to invest in the SGDF as an administrator, while a provisional college governance has been elected.
