An always sublime design and an interesting new button
Admittedly, the iPhone 16 PRO greatly resembles the iPhone 15 Pro, with this premium design with flat titanium edges that both share. But the iPhone 16 Pro is still different. It is notably larger than its elder and has a 6.3 inch screen, not 6.1 inches. And despite this growth (and a gain of a few grams), the grip remains as excellent. Obviously, the manufacturing quality is also flawless. This iPhone 16 Pro also retains its IP68 certification.
Let’s move on to one of the most notable changes: the addition of the Camera Control button, on the right edge of the smartphone. Concretely, it offers many possibilities for controlling the camera thanks to different types of pressure: triggering a shooting, video recording, development … If this button offers a lot of versatility and recalls the experience of traditional cameras, its location is not unanimous: in portrait mode, accidental triggers are not impossible. In terms of its screen, now, the iPhone 16 Pro has an OLED panel of exceptional quality, which offers impressive vibrant colors.
An iPhone that does not weaken
On the software side, the iPhone 16 Pro integrates iOS 18 and its many personalization options, which we had been waiting for a long time. Free placement of icons on the home screen, unified shade system, total overhaul of the control center which becomes really customizable … The experience is only more pleasant. Apple Intelligence, the suite of AI of Apple’s AI features, will also be available in April for all users. The latter can thus have access to a new SIRI, to sharp photo editing tools or even very practical notifications. On the performance side, the iPhone 16 Pro in no way weakens thanks to its A18 Pro chip which gives it exceptional power. The tasks, even the most demanding, will be linked with exemplary fluidity.
The iPhone 16 Pro also shines on its photo part with its three sensors (48 + 12 + 48 MP). The improvements made by Apple are clearly visible in low light and zoom. However, HDR treatment is sometimes a little excessive and the clichés could lack natural contrast. Video capacities are not to be outdone, and the iPhone 16 Pro can film in 4K at 120 FPS. Finally, on the autonomy side, the iPhone 16 Pro does better than the iPhone 15 Pro.
