Temperatures have never stopped climbing for several days, and this Monday was again very sunny. Only, that’s not all, the next 3 days, mercury could exceed 30 degrees.
From there to speak of a “heat wave”, as we had experienced one at the beginning of the summer? Several criteria are to be met in order to be able to talk about it. To talk about heat wave or heat wave, you must first have a period of 5 consecutive days during which the thermometer exceeds seasonal normal, that is to say about 25 degrees during this period of the year.
Then, during these 5 days, temperatures must reach 30 degrees for at least 3 days … and we will be there tomorrow but also Wednesday and probably Thursday, even if it remains to be confirmed.
These periods of high heat are no longer of the order of the exceptional: since 1892, Belgium has recorded 49 heat waves in more than 130 years, including only 13 over the last 10 years, they are therefore more and more frequent in recent years.
