Thymen Arensman won the 19th stage of the Tour de France in La Plagne after 94 km. The yellow jersey remains on the shoulders of the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar which is closer to its 4th coronation.
And two for the Dutchman on this 2025 round after his victory in Superbagnères, already during a coast arrival. Due to a fireplace in bovine disease, this beautiful mountain stage has been shortened and amputated from the seizure collar. The route therefore made 94 km instead of the 129.9 km initially planned.
Arensman attacked in the last climb when he was with the main runners of the General. The Dutchman was able to keep enough in advance because Tadej Pogacar did not attack and Jonas Vingegaard stayed in his wheel for a long time. Third of the general, Florian Lipowitz certainly ensured his position at the end of this last difficult step.
“I feel like I was dreaming”
“I am totally destroyedhe reacted. Already winning a stage of the Tour de France by being escaped is incredible. And there I leave the yellow jersey group against the best in the world. I feel like I was dreaming, I don’t know what I just did. It’s Tadej and Jonas. Everyone knows that they are the best in the world, almost extraterrestrials and I am just a human. But I just beat them, it’s just crazy. “
In the end, Vingegaard and Pogacar finished 2 seconds from Arensman, while Lipowitz follows 6 seconds from the winner. The 20th and penultimate stage will lead the Peloton from Nantua to Pontarlier, close enough to the Swiss border. Six climbs are on the program for this 184 km route, but only 4 listed for a stage cut for backpackers.
