A German forties drowned at sea, on Wednesday, after being trapped by the rising tide with seven other people, including children, in Audresselle, in the north of France, the firefighters announced. “The firefighters intervened for eight people taken by the tide,” the firefighters said in a press release. The group was “a priori on a sandbank which was surrounded by the sea,” said a spokesperson joined by AFP.
A 47 -year -old German, “in cardiorepiratory arrest when help arrived”, could not be resuscitated. A 9-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy, also German, were transported to the Boulogne-sur-Mer hospital center.
Considered as light wounded, they were in stadium two of drowning, corresponding to conscious victims, having inhaled water, detail the firefighters. The firefighters mobilized a boat to make sure that there was no one left in the water.
The maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea regularly calls for vigilance towards the tides, stressing that “it only takes a few minutes to be surprised by the rising tide”.
