“It mounted in pin,” defends the cabinet of the mayor of Caluire-et-Cuire toNews Lyon Regarding the controversy which has taken hold of the social network X (former Twitter) following the election of Bastien attached to the head of the town, this Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Succeeding Philippe Cochet, the latter having been sentenced to justice and forced to leave his duties, the young politician LR 30 years old was indeed elected an absolute majority by the municipal council this weekend. But it was quickly taken to task by Internet users for having passed a 15 % increase of his compensation as well as that of his assistants. Which, without context or explanations, can indeed question.
A fake news relayed by the mayor of the 4th arrondissement of Lyon
One of the accounts X did not hesitate to relay this information by speaking “of increase”, a term that also officially picked up the mayor of the 4th arrondissement of Lyon to tackle Bastien joined in a tweet.
“Above all, do not accept ecology but only increased compensation. In Caluire-et-Cuire, it is the change in continuity, ”published Rémi Zinck.
“It’s false, archi false”, replied the mayor’s office, questioned by our editorial staff.
It is a legal increase, supervised by law, and not an increase. All the communes chief of the canton or former chief place of canton are entitled to it and all the mayors of Caluire-et-Cuire benefited before Bastien Joint. It is simply that it must be the subject of deliberation and be revised in each election. But compensation is the same as before. In Lyon, for example, it is 50 %, or 25 % for having been a former regional/department chief town and 25 % to be a tourist town.

Annoyed by this “false controversy”, the office of the mayor of Caluire-et-Cuire believes that it was launched since there was “nothing else to say”.
Bastien joined, for his part, did not react To these few comments but published a message of thanks after his election with “a moved thought” for his predecessors: “Doctor Dugoujon, Bernard Roger Dalbert, Alain Jeannot and of course Philippe Cochet. We owe them so much, ”he wrote.
The young elected official was also congratulated by numerous LR colleagues of the Metropolis of Lyon such as Pierre Oliver, Jérémie Bréaud, Sébastien Michel and Gilles Gascon. Jean-Michel Aulas, future candidate for the town hall of Lyon, also contacted him.
