Batted heat record: this July 1st is the warmest ever recorded in our country

It’s hot, and especially more than ever for a July 1st. A temperature record has just fallen.

The heat dome that has been overheating Belgium since Monday will continue on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday, warns the Royal Meteorological Institute (MRI), which placed most of the territory on orange alert with hot weather. Thunderstorms are also possible.

Temperatures will already climb on Tuesday afternoon to reach 30 to 33 degrees at the coast, 31 to 35 degrees in the Ardennes and 35 to 37 degrees elsewhere, or even very locally up to 38 degrees.

MRI provides for the risk of an isolated downpour, possibly stormy, even if it will be “very reduced”. The wind will be generally low to sometimes moderate from south to southwest, while in the coast, a moderate sea breeze will be felt.

Around 2 p.m., a new record fell: that of the hottest July 1 ever recorded, as David Dehenauw, head of the time office at MRI announces. He made up to 34.7 degrees in Uccle.
