Only an All-Star Game NBA can compete, in registered points, with the Belgian armada… of Quidditch! Belgium has indeed become on Sunday the first European country to win the Quadball World Cup (ex-quidditch), by spraying Germany in the final 170-90.
While only the United States (four coronations in 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2023) and Australia (a victory in 2016) had hitherto won the supreme title of this atypical sports discipline from the saga Harry Potterthe Belgian Griffins were able to prevail at home, in front of around 2,000 spectators unleashed in the Tubize stadium.
The International Fedeant stands out from JK Rowling
This competition, which saw France obtain 6th place (out of 31 teams present), allowed the Quadball to highlight its strong values of diversity and inclusion. This is also the main reason, in addition to the complexity linked to the rights held by Warner Bros, which prompted the International Federation to officially distance itself from Quidditch in 2022. And this because of the many transphobic controversies linked to the words of JK Rowling, the famous British author of the series Harry Potter.
