Georges-Louis Bouchez, president of the reforming movement (MR) and Belgian federal deputy, spoke Thursday evening on i24news, denouncing the rise of anti-Zionism in Brussels, illustrated by a recent demonstration. “Everything seems to be allowed as soon as it is a question of opposing Israel,” he said, criticizing the blurring of standards which makes it possible to present anti-Semitic acts such as humanitarian or anti-Zionist fights. “Hamas remains a terrorist organization, and importing the conflict in Belgium to stir up the hatred of the Jews is unacceptable,” he hammered, alerting the danger of glorifying terrorism under the guise of “legitimate resistance”.
Bouchez has pointed out a strategic threat: “If Hamas ends with Israel, it will attack us. He criticized the complacency of certain Belgian media, such as RTBF and in the evening, which describe Samidoun, an organization listed as a terrorist in Canada and Germany, as a simple support group for Palestinian prisoners. He praised the initiative of the Minister of the Interior, Bernard Quintin (MR), who adopted a text to prohibit radical organizations stirring, like Samidoun, whose leader risks losing his status as refugee. “This complacency, especially on the left, must cease,” he insisted, calling for urgent media and political work to protect democratic values and counter the manipulation that feeds anti-Semitism disguised in anti-Zionism.
