Belgium explained to the French by Sacha Ferra in the cactus: ‘the absurd, it is a way of life’

Belgium is definitely not a country like the others. On the political level first, she surprises a chaotic bit by her organization, mixing three languages and three different communities. Because in Belgium, nothing is impossible (“except to have a government quickly”).

You just have to go out for a ride in the streets to realize it: past the border of the flat country, time does it only with your head, despite all logical and whatever the season! “You go from home to down jackets, you go into tapping, you have had a sunburn and caught the flu”underlines Sacha Ferra.

But Belgian surrealism is not just a story of weather or politics. It is first and foremost a question of state of mind. “Belgium is not easy to define”, recognizes the humorist. “But it is our country, with its too strong beers, its accents that go up and go down like an elevator on strike, and its humor, especially. Because with us, the absurd is not discomfort, it is a way of life.”

As for those who would risk making fun of our mother country, Sacha prefers to warn them:

We groan, we criticize, but not a Frenchman tells a word of way on our mayo or our city, otherwise we become a patriot like never!
