The Belgium’s Most Wanted list was published for the first time in the fall of 2016. It aims to collect information from citizens on criminals on the run, and to be able to find them so that they are serving their sentence or that they are judged.
People on this list are all authors or individuals suspected of serious facts of violence. Some are heads of criminal organizations and most of them have already been sentenced to prison terms of several years, the federal police said.
Among the new names added on the list is the Belgian Steven Achten, 45 years old. The latter had been sentenced to eight years in prison by the Antwerp Court of Appeal for attempted assassination in 2021.
Veselin Vukotic (66), from Serbia, was also added to the list. He was sentenced on January 29 to life imprisonment by the Brussels Assize Court for Assassination.
Zakaria El Kasmioui, 29 years old and Belgian nationality, is the last to join the table. He had been sentenced in 2022 to ten years in prison by the Antwerp Criminal Court for illegal drug trafficking.
“The approach is important not only for the victims and their entourage, but also to prevent these individuals from making new victims or committed other criminal acts,” said the Fugitive Active Search Team (Fast) of the Federal Police. The latter also hopes that “the information provided by citizens will allow him to find these individuals as quickly as possible”.
Over the years, many fugitives appearing on the Belgium’s Most Wanted list have been arrested. This list, accompanied by photos and a description of each fugitive, can be viewed via the link: www.police.be/avis-de-recharche/fr/avis-de-recharche/stost-wanted
