DWS names Benjardin Gärtner to the post of World Director of Actions as of September 1, 2025.
He left Union Investment, where he had been director general of Union Investment Privatfonds GmbH since March 2023 and has managed the management of Union Investment action funds since 2015.
In his new functions, Mr. Gärtner, 54, will be responsible for the global equity platform of DWS, or more than 70 investment experts and 107 billion euros in management under management. The former world co-directors of actions, Andre Köttner and Thomas Schüssler, as well as the director of shares in the United States, David Bianco, will join his management team. Mr. Gärtner will report to Vincenzo Vedda, world director of investment strategy at DWS.

Before joining Union Investment, Mr. Gärtner worked at the Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and London, in particular as a co-responsible for the German Actions team. From 2004 to 2010, he worked at Goldman Sachs in the field of actions distribution. From 1997 to 2004, he worked within the Allianz group in various divisions of asset management as a management fund manager and analyst, including two years as a senior actions analyst for Allianz of America in Westport, in the United States. After his banking training, Mr. Gärtner studied business management at the Berlin Technical University.
