BMW has announced a special new 5 Series model exclusively for the Canadian market that will be limited to 151 units.
Called Legacy Edition, the car has been “carefully curated for customers who appreciate both heritage and performance,” the automaker says. It doesn’t feature a four-cylinder engine like the entry-level 530i xDrive but rather BMW’s popular six-cylinder.
With an output of 375 horsepower as well as 398 lb-ft of torque, all of which is controlled by an eight-speed automatic transmission and the xDrive all-wheel drive system, the 540i xDrive Legacy Edition accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.

Customers can order it in any paint colour even those from the BMW Individual Manufaktur collection (at no cost), like the Maldives Blue II Metallic shown here. Other highlights include 21-inch BMW Individual wheels and the M Sport Pro package. The latter offers Shadowline headlights, black exterior accents, an illuminated grille and launch control.
Inside, look for BMW’s curved display with iDrive (OS 8.5) and an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system.

The 2026 BMW 540i xDrive Legacy Edition is now available to order. Deliveries are scheduled for this fall. Watch out: the car starts at $94,500 (MSRP), which represents an increase of $8,600 over the 550e xDrive plug-in hybrid model.
