The Italian authorities took the threat very seriously. Floor movement, repeated jolts, sustained magmatic activity … Since the 1980s, the immense Caldeira of the Phlegrean fields, a crater of almost 15 kilometers in diameter located west of Naples, showed tireless signs of activity. But at the end of the autumn morning, the alarm clock is much brutal than expected and the evacuation could not be ordered in time. The volcano on which three million people are exploding. Lava, ash and toxic gas are projected tens of kilometers high. In a few minutes, the ashes buried the buildings and stifle all living beings for miles around. The air of the whole region is poisoned by sulfur dioxide. In the northern hemisphere, electrical networks, transport and water supply are disturbed and for a good part of Europe, it is the return to the Stone Age. The whole world enters a long volcanic winter …
