(Montreal) Anticipation voting in the district of Arthabaska, Center-du-Québec, takes place on Sunday and Monday for the August 11 election. No less than 10 candidates are struggling,
Currently, the struggle seems above all to oppose the leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ), Éric Duhaime, to the candidate of the Parti Québécois (PQ), Alex Boissonneault. The Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ), the Legault government party, presents the candidate Keven Brasseur.
The candidates chosen by the other parties represented in the National Assembly are Chantale Marchand, for the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ), and Pascale Fortin for Québec Solidaire (QS).
The other candidates who have received the authorization of the Quebec elections to present themselves are Louis Chandonnet (Autonomist team), Denis Gagné (independent), Trystan Martel (Climate Québec), Arpad Nagy (independent) and Éric Simard (National Union).
This by -election has become necessary following the departure of the Caquist deputy Éric Lefebvre, during the mandate, who tried his luck on the federal scene. Mr. Lefevre, who carries the colors of the Conservative Party of Canada, was elected on April 28 in the federal district of Richmond-Arthabaska.
During the last general elections in Quebec, in October 2022, Éric Lefebvre was easily elected by obtaining 51.75 % of the vote, ahead of his closest rival, the conservative candidate Tarek Heldoud by more than 12,200 votes.
