These new taxes on imports will take effect, for the majority of the countries concerned, on August 7, and not Friday August 1 as an initially expected, in order to allow customs to organize for their collection, assures the White House.
But this postponement offers a window for final talks, want to believe several countries, including Switzerland, which has been surprised by a 39% surcharge on its products imported into the United States, a figure much higher than 15% that strike the European Union.
“We must also keep in mind that the deadline for negotiations for China is coming next week,” said Frédéric Ruf.
After facing himself with surcharge, the first two economic powers in the world accepted a commercial truce until August 12, bringing their respective customs duties to 10% on American products and 30% on Chinese products.
The session was also led by the publication of several business results elsewhere in Europe.
“There is a certain asymmetry in the reaction of the markets: when the results are good, the titles are progressing little; On the other hand, disappointments cause sensitive drops, ”retains Frédéric Ruf.
