The Government of Canada has announced that it will recognize Palestine as a country at the next UN General Assembly in September.
What, Palestine is not already a country? – Canada wants recognize palestinian state:
No, not officially! For example, For a territory to have the status of countries. Therefore, it is necessary that other states in the world recognize this as such. For example, At the UN, Palestine has the status ofPermanent observer state. It is not a Member State like Canada and other countries. It means that she has the right to participate in the organization’s work, but that she cannot vote.
On the other hand. the vast majority of countries in the world have already said that they considered Palestine as a country. And very recently, France, Great Britain and Canada said they too had the intention of recognizing the Palestinian state.
Canada, however, posed conditions. He wants the Palestinian authority (the government of Palestine) to promise:
-
to organize elections Next year.
-
of not to be militarized;
-
to leave No place in Hamas (A group considered terrorist by several countries and which leads the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip).

Does that mean Palestine will officially become a country in September?
No, not necessarily. Because to become a Member canada wants recognize palestinian state: State of the UN, there must be a vote. And like the United States. great allies of Israel, have the power to block all the proposals From the UN, it would be very surprising that Palestine managed to be accepted as a Member State.
But the more country there will be a decision to recognize the Palestinian state. the more pressure on the other UN member states.
