The paramedics who had to intervene had also testified to the newist of this extraordinary evening.

For the management of the Val Notre-Dame camp, the judgment of the court puts “an end to a deeply disturbing episode” and allows “to turn the page”.

“It’s very unhappy what happened. People have been traumatized by these events, ”said Yves Dion, the vice-president of the Board of Directors of Camp Val Notre-Dame.

“What happened exceeds a simple act of vandalism. They are whole families, children, dedicated staff, who were trapped in a moment of incomprehensible violence. These are cries, tears, panic in a place that is supposed to offer peace, joy, and respite. ”

Since this altercation with the pepper of Cayenne, the management of the camp had to redouble their efforts to regain the confidence of the customers. Families have however decided not to come back.

“It is not only the security that has been compromised, it is the feeling of confidence, of carelessness, which makes the essence of a family camp like ours,” said Mr. Dion.

Following events, the camp insurer also reassessed the risks and required that measures be taken to strengthen security on the site.

“We have invested tens of thousands of dollars to strengthen our site with a surveillance system, a security presence, and new procedures, training and inspections. It was not a choice, it was a necessity, ”notes Mr. Dion.

“The $ 40,000 we will have with judgment will compensate for these expenses.”
