Patrik Laine had a fairly rock ‘n’ roll in Montreal. Acquired last summer in a transaction with the Blue Jackets, his arrival wanted to be a bet to try to bring offensive punch in the top-6.
That said, a heavy knee injury during the training camp held him away for a while. However, he returned in December … and he broke everything (in digital advantage). Then, his lack of consistency and his game with a digital equality were criticized for him, and another injury made sure that he did not finish the series against the capital.
Never has a 20 -goals and 33 points in 52 games have made it so much talk.
The disappointing end of the Finnish season has made many hoped to see CH exchanging it this summer. However, obviously, the club may have other woolen plans.
According to David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period), the tricolor will meet the woolen camp after the draft to chat … a possible contract extension.
Lots of activity already, but how much action will there be over the next week? Here’s my latest on some of the trade talk swirling around, some UFA chatter, and more… https://t.co/rIUoitO4o6

It should be remembered that the current wool contract, which earns it $ 8.7 million per year, will end in a year. So that means that it is eligible to sign an extension of contract from July 1, and CH obviously wants to feel the field on this subject, a bit as it did with Mike Matheson at Combine NHL.
It will give him a better idea of the player’s requests to know what to stick to.
Obviously, at the moment, priority in Montreal is the draft, which will take place in less than a week. We can also think that the club will then focus on the market for autonomous players on July 1 … But during the summer, taking the time to meet wool about its future is part of the CH grocery list.
We can think that wool will have a salary decrease on his next contract, especially if he signs this summer. A big season next year (that he would not ideally start late) could help him rebuild his value to get more money in a year … and that is why I have the impression that he will not be particularly interested in signing this summer.
And for the tricolor, being patient also has its advantages: giving a new contract to Laine now, it is a big bet for a guy who was difficult to assess this season.
I have the impression that this meeting will be used above all to see if wool wants to stay in Montreal at the end of the next season. He seems to please town, after all, and it would not be surprising to see him want to stay.
But at the moment, both the player and the club have no interest in initiating an agreement. I have the impression that the club will especially do its homework … But you never know, after all.

– CH is not the only team that wants to go to the next level this summer.
Canadiens hope to escape NHL’s middle, but so does every team. Smart piece here from my pal @ArponBasu ⤵️ https://t.co/KOStt1QGzI

– Beautiful reading.
Here are all the targets for the #CH to 16th and 17th rows.
With a draft that could go in all directions, we have ratified wider to prepare for any eventuality. https://t.co/kt4ltoukcl

– Big story in the MLB.
The club and the MLB intend to take the file seriously.
