Aird, who has pending causes in matters of domestic violence, underwent his survey on release this week. The facts have not yet passed the court test.
He is accused of harassment, breakage of conditions and of having prevented, interrupted or embarrassed Lyne Boulanger in the employment, enjoyment or legitimate exploitation of a property.
“Great gravity”
However, according to the trainee of the director of criminal and criminal prosecution (DPCP) Justine Pleasant, “they are neighboring troubles that are quite gravity”.
According to her, it all started when Aird started making noise in order to disturb her neighbors. The latter would have parked his vehicle in front of the houses of his neighbors to block their views and would have groaned the engines early in the morning or late in the evening.
Lyne Boulanger would have encountered the accused to tell her about the problems. “It skids,” said the DPCP trainee. There was no agreement between the two. ”
The peak of the conflict would have taken place on May 7 when Aird “made his chain saw left and went to the street, facing the home of Mrs. Boulanger, with a mask of Jason. He brandished her in the air and stayed there for about 15 minutes, “said Ms. Pleasant.
The spouse of Ms. Boulanger and the accused would also have shouted insults during various baffles.
Aird was arrested before being released under conditions. He would have reoffended shortly after. He would also have posted homophobic and racist words in his car windows.
“The accused was filmed by another neighbor who is not involved in the files. He will shout insults addressed to Ms. Boulanger, indicating that “the city is disgusting, like you”, described Ms. Pleasant.
The police tried to arrest him for the first time, but the accused would have terrified himself at home. The patrollers then had a mandate to smash his door and they found that he owned lead rifles akin to real weapons.
Aird, who describes himself as a real estate investor and a general entrepreneur, proposed to the judge to return home for a week, accompanied by his father. He then wished to arrange a trailer on a field where he would settle, a few kilometers from the victim.
The man said he stopped eating, sleeping and overconsomed cannabis and caffeine when his ex-spouse left him. “I had a great emotional shock,” he said, adding that he was the victim of memory loss.
“I had a very intense episode of distress,” he describes.
According to him, psychiatrists made him understand that he needed help. “This hospital stay was very beneficial for me,” said the accused.
Released
If several factors were militating “in favor of detention”, judge Alexander Tardif said that the accused could be released while waiting for his trial, evoking the public’s confidence towards the justice system.
“The court concludes that the public, well informed of the psychological state of Mr. in the last months, aware of his lack of history and believing in the presumption of innocence, would not lose confidence if he was released.”
Now released, Mr. Aird is however subject to strict conditions. Indeed, he now has the right to be at home only in the presence of one of his parents. He will be strictly forbidden to be at home if he is alone throughout the judicial process.
Man also has a ban on contacting several people related to the offenses he has committed. In particular, he cannot contact or be in the presence of the mayor of East Angus. He is also formally forbidden to have weapons or to consume illicit substances.
Martin Aird claims to be able to respect these conditions and seek help. He will be back before the courts in the fall.
