Toronto (Ontario) -The Board of Directors of the Opera Association in Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Loewen to the post of President and CEO (CEO), in force immediately.
Since 2009, Christina has held the post of Director General, leading the Organization and the Canadian Opera sector through an era of transformation. It is recognized for its innovative leadership, its collaborative approach and its budgetary rigor, and it actively defends opera as an essential civic and cultural force.

This appointment marks a new step in the evolution of the association, while it widens its national and international influence and strengthens its impact in the Canadian lyric ecosystem.
About Christina Loewen
With more than two decades of management experience in the ballet, dance and opera circles, Christina Loewen plays a decisive role in the evolution of the Canadian lyric sector. Since arriving at the association in 2008, she held the post of Director General of the Opera Association in Canada, where she has helped define national strategies, strengthen the resilience of the sector and assert the civic and cultural relevance of the opera.
Christina played a key role in creating the Opera Civic Impact frameworka national digital platform making it possible to collect and disseminate data on artistic spinoffs, recovery statistics and organizational resilience – culminant with the upload of the common resource Powered by Arts Impact. She also launched the first impact investment initiative in the lyric sector, the pLoan resurgence for co -productionswhich made it possible to mobilize more than $ 450,000 in collaborative performances.
Continuing her work in social finance, Christina designed Opera Bonds, a bold initiative carried out in partnership with Si Canada, she is currently supporting companies as part of the programme Opera Bonds Accelerator, An impact investment preparation initiative that prepares the sector for future financing opportunities.
While Canada redefines its role on the world scene in a context of cultural diplomacy and strengthening national fabric, Christina is committed to making Canadian Opera shine internationally – weaving new partnerships, widening the scope of the sector and ensuring the presence of Canadian voices in global cultural conversations.
