Faced with geopolitical instability, Europe accelerates on the path of a sovereign digital infrastructure, carried by the Eurostack and its open source collaborative tools. Resilience, innovation and independence guide this open project, supported by a large front of public and private actors, starting with CIGREF.
L’Eurostack Dinum, it is above all a strong European ambition: that of regaining control over our digital destiny.
Carried by France, Germany and the Netherlands, this project aims to reduce the technological dependence of Europe by developing a sovereign, sustainable and interoperable technological infrastructure, capable of competing with non-European digital giants.
Eurostack proposes to build and deploy, in the next ten years, a sovereign stack of digital services and platforms, from connectivity to the cloud, including artificial intelligence and software solutions, in order to guarantee the European Union its resilience, its strategic autonomy and its technological leadership.
Concretely, l’Eurostack is based on lots of hardware and software initiatives but also, in particular, on Digital collaborative suite, An open source alternative to Microsoft 365, developed by Dinum, already used by more than 300,000 public officials in France. This suite brings together open source collaborative tools, designed to be reusable and interoperable, which can be integrated into the offers of European suppliers such as OVHCLOUD, SCALEWAY or CLEVERCloud. The objective is to create a coherent ecosystem, where administrations, businesses and citizens can rely on local, robust and privacy solutions.
In detail, we find at the heart of this suite, Tchap (an end -to -end instant messaging, designed for internal state communications), Resana (a collaborative platform allowing documents, co -edition and project management), France Transfer (for large file exchanges), the spreadsheet Gristthe tool Docs For the collaborative edition of texts in real time … The suite also incorporates videoconference tools as WebConference et Audioconfas well as a secure electronic email service. Added to it Webinar For online seminars and training, capable of accommodating up to 350 participants. The whole is accessible via unique authentication thanks to ProConnectwhich simplifies connection to all services and allows fluid collaboration between state agents, communities and external partners.
But the Eurostack is not limited to the technique. It is also a political and industrial projectsupported by French and European actors, who see it as a strategic response to the challenges of resilience and sovereignty. And among the supports of this initiative, the CIGREF recently split a press release to validate the Eurostack approach.
The objective of Dinum is bring out credible alternatives to technological oligopolies, Based on free software to facilitate collaboration in the public and private sectors. Its director, Stéphanie Schaer, insists that ” in digital, Success does not only depend on investment or regulation, but also on the adoption of the same methods of construction of products as those of digital giants, so that each euro of public money invested contributes to that more Europeans become users of sovereign solutions ».
The ambition, which should be embodied this fall in the EDIC Digital Common Common consortium, is to be able to invest around 300 billion euros over ten years, with a public purchasing strategy “Europe first” and an open source orientation to strengthen collaboration within European communities.
“Today, in the unstable geopolitical context that we know, digital resilience is no longer an option, it is a requirement. We can no longer remain dependent on some suppliers. We must diversify our IT supplies channels, without excluding of course, by investing in credible European solutions. The digital continuation is one: it is an open, ambitious, robust initiative, and in the state of the art. It is not a sovereign solution at a discount, it is a solution of progress, ”concludes Emmanuel Sardet, president of CIGREF.
