Cité festival: after underground in Tridel

“Are you going up to Tridel tonight?” Is this the sentence to say at the Cité Festival. The famous Afters which take place in the Tridel waste sorting factory in La Sallaz have become a must of the event, especially among the youngest. Live performance and DJ set take place in this extraordinary setting, in the midst of active machines.

Since 2016, the festival has been collaborating with the Tridel company to accommodate 1,500 people per evening. Friday and Saturday evening, these events attract the irresistible revelers wishing to extend the party until daybreak. “Organizing such a big party, in an industrial setting like this is unheard of” rejoices Gilles Valet, responsible for programming current music.

“You see in a video game, when you progress, you unlock new areas that become detailed on your card. For Tridel, that’s exactly what’s going on ”explains Louis. “It is not a place in which you are supposed to go, even less to party and it is this discovery of an unconventional and gigantic place that makes the evening fantastic.”

Indeed, an after in Tridel must be deserved. The bruises borrow the chemin du Calvary in procession to go up from the valley to the CHUV before joining the sorting center of waste located in La Sallaz. Once arrived around the building, a spiral path leads them a few tens of meters underground, where everything is going.

“The place is insane, but I had a little trouble with music,” admits Claire. People are present to dance, but last year, there was a remix of Mario Kart’s music… ”Indeed, the programming is varied. “Friday evening will be more intense, with rhythms that tap a little stronger, while Saturday will be more solar, more happy,” says Gilles Valet. In Tridel, we mix all the styles a little, with a single goal, do everything to make the party beautiful until sunrise.
