A deposed real estate broker who had been sentenced to 15 months in prison for having sexually assaulted a woman met online will ultimately have served only one third of his sentence, after having succeeded in convincing that he was a changed man.
“You say you have questioned everything and brought several changes to your lifestyle and your way of thinking, in particular with regard to women,” explains the Quebec commission for parole.
Right after, it allowed Francis Vallée to leave the prison walls, in order to continue his rehabilitation following a sexual assault committed in 2011.
“During the evening, the victim suddenly became unconscious, after drinking a glass of alcohol,” said the commission. The victim has only memories of the events that took place that evening. ”
When the woman had woke up, Vallée had left the scene, leaving a word saying that he had “appreciated” his evening.
#Moies
The victim, for his part, had pain for several days. However, she hadn’t said anything until 2020, when the #Moiaussi movement had encouraged her to file a complaint.
Vallée had denied everything, saying that the relationship had been “conscious and consenting”, but he had not convinced justice, which had sentenced him in April 2022 to 15 months in prison. The aggressor had brought his cause on appeal, and it was only after being dismissed last January, that he began to serve his sentence.
Meanwhile, 12 other women had filed a complaint against him at the Quebec Real estate brokerage self-regulation (Oaciq). The disciplinary committee retained 11.
“Since then, you have lost your right of practice,” said the commission in Vallée.
Changes
The media coverage of his file as well as his incarceration, however, seem to have had a certain effect on the fallen broker, which better understands having to respect the limits of others.
“You have taken therapeutic steps […]you have worked on your personality, your cognitive distortions and your risk factors, ”continues the Commission.
With his spouse [rencontrée dans le cadre de son travail] And his family who supports him, the commissioners thus concluded that Vallée represented no risk of his parole, especially since a preparatory outing in the last weeks had gone well.
Despite these positive signs, however, he will have to meet certain conditions, including not consuming drugs and continuing his therapies related to his sexual delinquency.
